Farewell, Alex.

This last Saturday marked a large event here at The GhostLight Lounge. Not only was this the most incredible Drag Show that we’ve ever had, (carried by an incredibly talented group of performers) but it was our beloved leader, Alex Jorn’s last night ever here at The GhostLight Lounge. It goes without saying that Alex was truly what made this place what it is. I have worked closely with Alex for the last year and a half, and I have grown to greatly respect her work ethic and attitude. I have never before met someone willing to work so incredibly hard considering the situation around her. Most importantly, my time working alongside Alex has given me a truly sincere friend whom I will be forever grateful for. Her unending effort was instrumental in putting our shows together, and made The GhostLight Lounge the place that it is today.

I’ve been able to do the work that I have been engaged with alongside Alex due to her, and I am proud of what we’ve done. I’m proud of the communities that have been fostered here, whether it be folks interested in comedy, our karaoke regulars that we’ve grown so fond of, (I’m not going to name anyone in particular, but if you’re reading this and feel like it is about you, then it probably is.) and most importantly, I am proud of the fact that The GhostLight Lounge could be a space for LGBTQIA+ representation, and that our Kings and Queens can have the freedom to perform and express themselves however they see fit. This space wasn’t built by us, we just work here, it was built by each and every single one of you that performed on the stage here at GLL. The strength of the GhostLight Lounge is that has been configured to foster an environment where people of any walk of life can coexist with one another, where no group is marginalized or overlooked, and all can enjoy the company of one another. I believe that we have done our work well.

The friends and connections that Skyler and I have furnished here at The GLL are largely the responsibility of the work that Alex had done, and we are forever thankful. I know for certain that Alex is destined to serve her life valiantly, and there is no other person I’d rather believe in. Forgive me for taking this moment to reflect on what this place has meant to me, for I am taking the last opportunity I have to detail the weight each and every moment I've had with you all has had.

Farewell, Alex.
